What do I need to keep in mind for cork toys?
Cork is a natural product. This means that small parts can break off. This is completely normal and does not affect the toy.
How do I care for the toys properly?
Simply wipe with a damp cloth to clean.
How sustainable is cork? / How much CO2 do cork toys store?
Cork sequesters a particularly large amount of CO2. Cork oak bark sequesters approximately 73t CO2/g. This makes cork one of the greatest CO2 reservoirs on the planet. Regularly peel-ing the bark allows more CO2 to be captured from the atmosphere. Consequently, our toys are environmentally friendly and climate neutral.
How are Korko toys manufactured?
No trees are felled to make our cork. As it is only the tree bark that is peeled, the tree can continue to capture CO2. Cork bark grows back completely in 9 years and can be lovingly peeled once again by hand.
Is the packaging as sustainable as Korko’s products?
We have designed our packaging to be particularly minimalist so that the packaging of our toys also conserves resources. We guarantee short transport routes through production in Portugal and also rely on production here in Europe.
Are Korko toys tested for harmful substances?
Our colours are water-based and so particularly suitable for children.
We use colours that are also used for colouring bottle corks, making them food-safe.
Our toys are tested in accordance with the toy standard EN71.
Is Korko also suitable for people with allergies?
Cork is anti-static, meaning that it collects less dust. As a result, Korko is perfectly suitable for people with allergies.
Is Korko certified?
Our cork follows the Montado principle and so fulfils the highest standards. Our toys are in harmony with nature and support the natural ecosystem. This, in addition to CO2 sequestration, ensures the preservation of endangered species.
